tiney workplace FAQs

What does tiney workplace offer companies?

Very few employers are currently able to offer childcare as a team benefit, tiney workplace opens that door. tiney workplace offers companies a fully managed and easy way to create and operate a workplace nursery for their employees. tiney will help you identify an appropriate space at, or near, your place of work, take care of all the regulatory and safeguarding procedures required during setup, match you with a qualified early years educator who will run the space and ensure that the space operates efficiently for parents whose children join. Currently, 25% of working parents struggle to find flexible childcare and spend up to 40% of their salary on it, whilst an estimated 250,000 women are also missing from the workforce due to childcare challenges. Tiney workplace solves these problems for employers and their teams.

How does tiney workplace operate?

As part of the previous Conservative Government’s "Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023", plans were announced for childminders to be able to operate full-time in non-domestic spaces, including offices/workspaces (with suitable space), church halls, community centres, or similar venues. This is a change from the current legislation, which allows childminders to use non-domestic spaces for up to 50% of the time only.

tiney workplace will help companies open and operate micro nurseries at their place of work, whilst introducing childminders to new business opportunities away from their own homes. These micro nurseries will be run by qualified childminders and regulated by tiney, the UKs largest Childminder Agency (CMA)

How can tiney workplace help parents?

Tiney workplace helps parents access great childcare directly at their place of work, including the ability to use and access all their usual funded hours allowances with tiney. We know that right now 25% of working parents struggle to find flexible childcare and spend up to 40% of their salary on imperfect solutions. We hope that tiney workplace will change this.

If you're a childminder looking to train as a tiney workplace nursery manager, packages start from £400.

The non-domestic workplace setting I have in mind does not have access to a suitable outdoor space; would this still be suitable?

The EYFS states that "Childminders must provide access to an outdoor play area. If that is not possible, they must ensure that outdoor activities are planned and taken daily (unless circumstances make this inappropriate, for example unsafe weather conditions)." EYFS, 2024, 3.68), Therefore, if no suitable outdoor space is available at the setting, the Childminder Manager will need to think about how they will ensure that children have daily access to the outdoors. Local parks and community spaces are a great way to ensure children have the ability to immerse themselves in nature.

How do I find out more and express interest?

We are currently waiting on full confirmation from the new Labour Government as to how these changes will be implemented. In the meantime, please join our waiting list and become one of the first people who could take advantage of this new scheme with tiney.
