About this home

As a mummy myself I know that finding the perfect childcare for your little ones can be a daunting task, that’s why I endeavour to ensure that they are cared for and looked after in a nurturing and exciting learning environment! I run a home from home setting with all the added fun and learning of being at a nursery school. I will always work closely with parents to ensure routines and the comforts from home are kept the same.

About our tiney childminder

I have a level 3 NVQ in children’s learning care and development and have worked in the early years sector for 15 years. I have lots of SEND experience, fully insured, first aid trained and DBS checked. I am also a mummy to 2 girls aged 8 and 4 and I like to consider my parenting style as ‘gentle parenting’. While I keep my parenting and professional side separate I do use lots of the same techniques with both the children I care for and my own daughters.

Unique highlights

15 years experience

I have worked in the early years sector for 15 years, I have been a childminder for 3 of those and previously worked in a nursery school as deputy manager.

Messy play

We love messy play at Sarah’s little learners! We have something like this available every day, and can range from shaving foam, oats, gloop, potions, pretend soup or juice making with real fruit and vegetables, paints, playdough, mud kitchen, gelly baff, coloured pasta and many more! We understand the importance Messy play has for children’s learning and development, as it really gives their tiny hands chance to work on muscle development which will later be used when learning to hold a pencil and learning to write! It also has great sensory benefits and lots of opportunity for imaginative play and language development!

Quiet time

We have quiet time every day before lunch. During these 15 minutes we like to listen to calming music and lie down on the floor or sofa, or sometimes we follow a children’s yoga routine. We also practise lots of breathing techniques and focus on relaxing parts of our bodies. While it is beneficial for children to have a chance to relax during their day, we also recognise that these skills being taught are transferable to when children are struggling with their big emotions. They learn how to breathe and calm themselves while in a happy mood so that when these big emotion moments hit, they can call on these pre learnt skills and calm themselves down with ease. Once they are feeling calmer they are ready to talk about their struggles and work out a solution.
